It might just be because you're not at work, because your adventurous outdoor activities have made you really hungry, or perhaps it's just that amazing view - but does camping food always taste better?

It might just be because you're not at work, because your adventurous outdoor activities have made you really hungry, or perhaps it's just that amazing view - but does camping food always taste better? If that's what you're thinking, you're not alone - because we agree too! Let's take a fun look at some of the reasons for this:

1. It's simple

Just because you're far from your fancy kitchen, all those appliances and a vast array of complex ingredients doesn't mean your food can't taste great; in fact, the opposite is often true. Some of your best and lasting memories will be that simple hot chocolate, a basic three-ingredients-in-one-pot concoction, or lamb and onion skewers that you will forever associate with being on holiday with your favourite people. Of course, if you really can't stand the thought of camping and need a fancier food experience with a spot of 'glamping', check out our blog post here.

2. It's fun to prepare

Another great reason camp food always tastes great is because there is little stress involved in its preparation - and normally the completely opposite is true and it really is fun. You're not rushing to pull something together after work, often the whole family will be involved in the process, and you'll be surrounded by a great location when you sit down to eat it. Even so, you still need to ensure you've got all the lifestyle accessories to make your camping trip fun and comfortable, so take a look through this post for ideas.

3. Cooking with fire is tasty!

Camping isn't really camping without a camp fire - and there's something about cooking over it that makes food really taste great. Cooking with modern gas and electricity is handy and efficient, but good old fire will leave everything a little bit smoky - and cooking things one by one with a stick will put a smile on the family's faces and make everything taste just that little bit better.

4. A bit burnt? Just a bit better!

Camp food is just yum - full stop. But it can be even more delicious if you slightly overdo it, as is often the case when you're camping. Camp-made pizza with slightly blackened edges? For some reason, it makes it taste better, and it's also the case with your sausages or burgers that have a thin outer layer that is distinctly charcoal-y! Corn on the cob that is distinctly charred? There is nothing better, except those iconic wrapped-in-foil campfire potatoes. We're quite sure you're thinking of so many reasons and delicious and simple camping foods that we've left out, so don't be shy to leave a comment.
